hee. [Oct. 15th, 2002|11:29 am]
Up at the head table in the cafeteria, one of the
nuns had placed a big bowl of bright red, fresh, juicy
apples. Beside the bowl, she placed a note which read,
"Take only one. Remember, God is watching."

At the other end of the table was a bowl full of
freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, still warm from the
oven. Beside the bowl, a little note scrawled in a child's
handwriting which read,
"Take all you want. God's watching the apples."

slow down! this is a neighborhood!! [Oct. 8th, 2002|02:22 pm]
I'm munching on baby carrots and broccoli florets. Woo. Heh. I can't go to the gym today, since the locker room is closed for repairs, so I figure maybe I'll eat some healthy stuff and walk later or something. I bought some ankle weights last night. Think I'll strap those puppies on later... maybe KICK. And stretch. And KICK.

Yeah, that's not so funny if you don't know what I'm talkin' about. And I miss my husband. I hate not seeing him for practically four days every week. It just sucks. So does this raw broccoli. It just tastes so... green or something. I baked salmon last night, and not for long enough, apparently. So I nuked it a little more. Then when I'd had all I could stand, I gave the rest to my animals. They really love me now.

I bought some new pillows last night. Ours were pretty much flat like pancakes. But these are TOO fluffy. I felt like my head was cocked at a ninety degree angle. I tried putting my shoulders on there too... still felt weird. I hope they break in quickly.

I think we're buying a mattress this weekend. Whee!! We need a new one so badly. But how do you ask the salespeople about the specifics? "So how will it hold up under... strain?" Heh. Also, with me, him, and Diesel, there's over 400 lbs. on the damn thing. I guess if it can handle that, it can handle a little activity.

And I'm taking Thursday and Monday off. Thursday to go find a place to ride my dirtbike, and Monday to videotape the birth of my nieces. It'll be a fun break. He's taking Thursday off with me. I have hopes that this weekend will be more fun than last. Maybe we can grill out a buncha times. Get some more tasty things. Mmm.

And Sunday, I'm going to a little free spa day thing with my mom and sister. It will be girly times, but I never do that stuff, and I know she wants to get her mind off the fact that she's going to have two babies the next day. O_O

shoes... [Oct. 7th, 2002|01:35 pm]
The Friday Five
1. What size shoe do you wear?
a 9 1/2. Used to buy narrow when I was a kid. Now just regular.
2. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
I have to think about this. I'll break it down. Boots: 3 pair. Sneakers: 4 pair. Casual: 4 pair. Strappy heels: 4 pair. Sandals: 1 pair. Ugly heels I'll probably never wear again: 5 pair? maybe more. My grandmother bought me some 'sensible' shoes. One pair, navy, I've NEVER worn. had at least three years.
3. What type of shoe do you prefer (boots, sneakers, pumps, etc.)?
I love my tennies. =) I wear them all the time on the weekends. Not allowed to at work, so I'm usually in my casuals. VERY rarely touch a pair of heels.
4. Describe your favorite pair of shoes. Why are they your favorite?
I'll contradict myself here for a second. My favorite pair are a pair of black heels. One strap over the toe cleavage, embroidered with flowers and beads. All black. A strap that fixes around the ankle. Heels about 3". Maybe 3.5". They are my favorite because they are sexy, and they're also HIS favorite. ; )
5. What's the most you've spent on one pair of shoes?
I'd say my Doc Martens. Ooh, I didn't count my boots!! *goes to fix* Anyway, those were on sale for $105, I think. Regular black. And recently, I paid over $300 for some dirtbike boots, but that's a specialty item. I cap my tennis shoe cost at around $60, and my heels/other, I won't spend more than $40 on. Except those black ones. They were $45 at the time. =)

what is UP? [Oct. 2nd, 2002|05:04 pm]
[mood |??? I just don't know.]
[music |two hour conference call.... STILL.]

Sometimes, my life just floats along effortlessly.

And then there are times like now, when not only my life, but everyone's life I know is in total upheaval. Is this National Drama Month or something?

There are people falling in love. people falling apart. losing jobs. having babies. getting very ill. getting slammed with work. having accidents. causing accidents. hospitalization. being robbed. failing classes. getting cancer.

There's just way too much drama, people. I've exceeded the number of allocated drama hits this week. Please try again at a later time.

PS- and all this damn drama at work today has prevented me from going to the gym. NOT GOOD.

[Sep. 30th, 2002|03:50 pm]
The Friday Five:

1. What are your favorite ways to relax and unwind?
Chillin' in front of the TV. Just listening to the radio. Hangin' out with my man.

2. What do you do the moment you get home from work/school/errands?
Put all my crap on the kitchen counter, hang my jacket on the stair post thing, and go let those damned dogs out into the backyard.

3. What are your favorite aromatherapeutic smells?
I love honeysuckle. I bought a pineapple delight car freshener from the Cracker Barrel this weekend. Vanilla is good. Cinnamon is wonderful. And his shaving cream.

4. Do you feel more relaxed with a group of friends or hanging out by yourself?
My 'group of friends' consists of my hubby and our dogs. So I'd say I'm equally relaxed in either setting. =)

5. What is something that you feel is relaxing but most people don't?
I walked to the Publix this weekend instead of taking the car. It was a 30+ minute walk all total. I thought it was very relaxing. In an active sort of way. Heh.

so maybe I'm a dork. [Sep. 26th, 2002|06:01 pm]
but i'm going home to watch the Friends premiere tonight. =) I love that show.

I got free pizza today at work. Only had two slices, because that was enough. But it was oh-so-tasty.

And I did some exercises today that I'm betting I'll be paying dearly for tomorrow.

We get to try and repair our mangled couch cushions this weekend. The dogs have shredded two of them very badly. We'll be coming up with a 'creative' solution. It will probably end up looking very ghetto. But whatever. No one ever comes over anyway.

It's in the 70's the last couple days. Last night, it was actually CHILLY. We hugged goodbye in the parking lot, and kissed, and the wind was picking up, and I got a chill that was on more than one level. Aahhh... I like fall. And embracing. Building a fire and hangin' out together in the living room... cuddles. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful, loving man. Last night, I met him for dinner, and when he got there, he said "I'm so glad I was able to meet you for dinner. I feel like I haven't seen you much this week." =) =) =) I love him so much.

Okay, so I tried to teach my 68 year old grandmother how to use the internet over the phone today. She's never really used a computer either. I determined quickly that I'll be needing to pay her a visit this weekend and tutor her in person. O_O WHICH SHOULD BE FUN BEYOND BELIEF. Actually, it's kinda cute.

And then, soon, my hubby will actually be working in the same ROOM as I am. And we're not allowed to go over and talk to each other or anything. Thank God for IM. I really hope he's not on my row or I'll have a hard time not casting glances. =)

Grr. >=| [Sep. 25th, 2002|12:09 pm]
I typed that subject a half hour ago, and don't remember what I was 'grr'ing about. Heh.

So anyway. I put too much sugar in my hot tea. It's almost too sweet to drink. Bummer. I'll make it through though. I put honey in it too, which is why it's hardly bearable. Once it gets cool, forget it. Ew.

Hubby went to lunch with a manager today. I really hope he has leftovers. And brings them back to me, since I didn't make my pbjs today. *sniff*

My knee is sore. I really hope it's not going to start giving me trouble. I am enjoying this exercise thing. So, knee? Just forget about acting up. FORGET IT.

I have these two zits on my chin, that are very close in proximity, and if they get any larger, they'll just morph into one ginormous zit. Like two beads of mercury that join together. (I don't like the word 'zit', but what else? 'Blemish' sounds way too formal. 'pimple' sounds early teen. I dunno.)

And I think I have to go to the doctor and take some damned antibiotics to rid myself of this stubborn sinus infection. It's definitely worn out its welcome. Two weeks is long enough for my voice to sound weird when I hear myself talking. ENOUGH, I say.
link4 things|talk to me

haha. [Sep. 25th, 2002|10:30 am]
something I wrote in an email recently...

My morning was spent coughing up phlegm from this sinus infection I got last week. I
did that most of the day, then stopped by to see if I had any refills on my
inhaler, since I was wheezing. I didn't, and the pharmacy would not have
mercy on me. I went home and milked my empty one for any stray particle of
medicine so I could sleep without sounding like an old air conditioner.

Sometimes I crack me up.

my hair is greasy. [Sep. 24th, 2002|02:42 pm]
It shouldn't be greasy already. I washed it yesterday morning.

Dirtbiking was fun. I shifted from 2nd to 3rd back to 2nd a lot. Got up to almost 40 mph on a straightaway a couple times. We were just riding on this practically unused gravel road - there are like 4 houses off this two mile stretch. I dropped the bike once, trying to turn way too slowly. Got some fancy bruises from that, but thanks to my elbow pads and riding pants and boots, no torn skin. We forgot to bring the camera(s). Will remember next time.

My biceps hurt. I'm stepping up my workouts - not seeing the results I want fast enough. Hub says maybe my idea of what I should look like after 15 weeks isn't realistic. Maybe he's right. And I'm not sure if the image of what I want to accomplish is based on what *I* want to look like, or what I think *he* wants me to look like. Maybe they are one and the same.

My mother got fired, or let go. Three weeks severance, with her vacation, which was two weeks, I think. She's remained slightly positive, plans to take this time to get the house in order and get her grandbabies settled in (they'll be arriving via C-section the week of the 8th). She may talk to the labor board about the way things were done.

Almost gym time. Whee!

I want to understand... [Sep. 24th, 2002|10:29 am]
(Sung by a black girl in a sultry tone...)

"Breast strips, breast strips.
You make my heart sing.
I love ta dip ya so much,
You sexy chicken thang."

Now, I'm not a racist, ya'll. But will someone please explain to me why so many things in the black culture have to be about sex? I mean, it's a piece of chicken. I already can't/won't listen to most hip hop because it's all about gettin' it on, with your secret lover, best friend's guy, whatever. I can't stand (even the idea of) promiscuity. But now I can't even listen to damned chicken commercials on the radio?

CHICKEN IS NOT SEXY.

Baaaad meh duh sun. [Apr. 10th, 2002|01:43 pm]
[mood | amused]

Trying to tell the man that the day he took off last Thursday wasn't approved, so they're going to give him that day without pay. I hate corporate bullshit.

And my sister still seems to think that marrying this kid is a good idea. NOW, even. After they broke up a couple of months ago. And he flirts with her 14 year old friend in front of her. And he's 19. And they both dropped out of school. And he's on probation. And his license is suspended. Oh, they'll just live with his parents. It'll all be SWELL.

In the interest of space... )
